This American Life
Parts of Vivian Paley's Book, "You Can't Say You Can't Play," were featured on This American Life. In May 2013, the program re-aired. Stories from children about not getting lost at school: are they more common today than ever?

Vivian Paley "discovered" storytelling and story acting. In 2000, we had the privilege of filming her for two days, and we have been thinking about children and their stories ever since.
You Can't Say You Can't Play
In her book "You Can't Say You Can't Play," Vivian Paley documented the year she spent talking to children about this rule. Now Ruth Thomas-Suh has included some of Vivian's thoughts in her film, Reject. The trailer is on Youtube.
WELCOME TO THE CHILD CARE COLLECTION
For more than 20 years, we have been producing and distributing training materials for early childhood professionals. Our mission is to improve the quality of care and education young children receive. We began with programs on public TV, then moved to VHS and DVDs. Our latest training opportunity, an online streaming video catalog called The Language of Story and Play, is overflowing with video clips about the use of stories in early childhood classrooms. The idea for the catalog began when we produced three programs about the work of Vivian Paley and has expanded to include the work of other storytellers and teachers who also know that story and play are the original tools of learning.
